CREW Denver DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Mission Statement

Member Engagement Committee

“The CREW Denver Member Engagement Committee is dedicated to promoting the advancement and equity of ALL members in the commercial real estate industry.

We firmly believe collaboration among members with varied backgrounds and perspectives generates more incisive and deeper insights that better serve ourselves, each other, our businesses, and our communities.

Our commitment to an inclusive environment that values differences including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, religion, socio-economic, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, neurodiversity, perspective, and experience is unwavering, and guides us forward each day.

There is still work to be done; thus, this Committee was formed with an intentional focus on ensuring doors are open for all and making sure our members can promote and experience belonging in CREW Denver.

As an organization, our approach to inclusion and diversity is rooted in listening, learning, and acting so that we may grow and do and be better for all.”

A letter from Leah Erickson, Director of Member Engagement:

Dear CREW Denver Members,

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Director of Member Engagement on the CREW Denver Board this year. In 2022, our Board of Directors convened and collaborated to establish a new position to lead and champion thoughtful ways to incorporate DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) into everything CREW Denver does. We have identified Education, Engagement, and Authenticity as the pillars that will drive us forward in 2023 and beyond.

  • Education – Understanding that awareness and knowledge are key, we broaden our mindset by offering chapter-wide events, discussions, and information, providing opportunities for all our members to learn and grow together.

  • Engagement  – The DE&I Committee will act as a liaison to all other committees of CREW and partner with Directors, Chairs, and Members to approach all chapter efforts with a DE&I lens.

  • Authenticity – Through sharing stories and encouraging vulnerability to show up as ourselves, the Member Engagement Committee is dedicated to fostering a culture of belonging, supporting authenticity and intersectionality, and embracing and appreciating our differences.

These three pillars offer a comprehensive approach to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. These three pillars encourage and ask for greater involvement from everyone in CREW Denver.  Each of us has a unique role to play.  So, I ask that you join me and chart a path forward—on an individual level and an organizational level—to learn, grow, and offer allyship, so that we may always lead with a DE&I mindset.

As we think about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and how we build community with one another, we ask that: we be curious and open-minded, we approach without judgement, we practice empathy, and we honor our true selves and one another.  It is together that we will make CREW Denver and the world a better place for everyone.

Your friend and ally,

CREW Denver DE&I Leadership
